Federal Minister Cem Özdemir visits LBBW’s German Centre Beijing with a business delegation
High-ranking visitor to LBBW’s German Centre Beijing. Cem Özdemir, Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, was a guest there. He was accompanied by an eight-strong delegation of representatives from German companies.
We are delighted by Federal Minister Özdemir’s interest in the German Centre and this confirms our work for the German economy in China and Asia. The visit is also a sign of how important the German Centres are as a platform and bridge builder for entrepreneurial engagement in the respective host country. In addition to the German Centre Beijing, LBBW also operates German Centres in Singapore and Mexico City.
The German Centre in Beijing was a stop on the current delegation trip to China by Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and several federal ministers. “China is and remains an important market for German companies, especially SMEs. I am impressed by the commitment of the German Center here in Beijing to supporting German companies on their growth path in China, especially when things get more difficult,” said Özdemir after the visit.
The visit to the German Centre was initiated by Gao Su, Head of the LBBW Representative Office in Beijing, in cooperation with the German Embassy. “The exchange on the ground is important in order to really understand what drives German companies here in China. That’s why it’s a good signal that the minister is personally committed to expanding relations here,” says Su Gao.
Support for German companies starting up and expanding in China
The German Centre Beijing, a subsidiary of LBBW, supports medium-sized German companies in China in particular. Around 70 companies currently have their China office on 16,000 square meters, use the conference areas and benefit from numerous consulting services, easy access to experts, institutions and business associations as well as the direct exchange of experiences among each other. Numerous events round off the information on offer. The German Centre works closely with LBBW’s locations in China – the branch office in Shanghai and the representative office in Beijing, which is itself in the German Centre. Since its foundation in 1999, more than 500 companies have used the German Centre Beijing as a starting point for their activities in China.
