On the occasion of the International Women’s Day

Growing Together Through Responsibility

At the German Centres Worldwide, we believe that strong communities are built when businesses share knowledge, support one another, and take responsibility for the broader impact they create.

With our initiatives especially on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, we aim to shape a community where inclusive dialogue is encouraged, transformation creates new opportunities, and sustainable thinking supports long-term business development.

ESG is a strategic decision for long-term growth

Integrating ESG principles is a strategic advantage for businesses. Organizations that embed ESG into their operations are better equipped to foster stability, attract talent, build trust with customers and stakeholders, and drive transformation by identifying new opportunities converting into innovation.

At the German Centres Worldwide, ESG is embedded in our corporate culture and part of our community mindset in shaping a business ecosystem where innovation, sustainability, and inclusive leadership reinforce each other.

Promoting inclusion, diverse leadership and equal opportunities

March is the International Women’s Day campaign month. For years, the German Centre Beijing has been seizing this opportunity – and organized this year together with the German Chamber of Commerce the event “IWD 2026: Women Leading a Sustainable Future”. This event created a platform to give visibility to female leadership and support the professional development of women.
We were honored to welcome Crystal Han (VP Sales and Marketing, IQAir) and Zola Guo (Corporate Sustainability Manager, BMW Brilliance) as speakers. They shared their work, their leadership journeys, and their experiences navigating challenges while stepping forward to drive change.

Following their presentations, Monika Trinh Do, a Diversity and Inclusion trainer, provided practical insights and tools for individuals and organizations to foster more inclusive and sustainable workplaces through resilience, collaboration, and purpose-driven leadership.

From leadership to environmental responsibility

To complement the discussion on leadership and sustainability, a tree-planting activity as a commitment to nurturing leadership and sustainably development followed the event, a meaningful environmental action. The more than 20 trees will grow into a new green space in Beijing. This initiative reflects that sustainable growth is not only a strategic priority, but also the result of everyday decisions and collective efforts.

Fragments of Her – Women empowerment in artistic form

At the German Centre Singapore, the exhibition “Fragments of Her” is on display until June at the Art Gallery within our space in collaboration with Canvas Connection.
The artworks highlight the talents of female artists and the lived experiences, voices, and stories that reflect women’s resilience and complexity. Through artistic expression, the exhibition encourages dialogue, reflection, and appreciation of the diverse perspective women bring across societal, cultural and business contexts.

What can businesses do to strengthen ESG?

For business leaders and organizations looking to strengthen their ESG journey, progress does not always start with large-scale transformations. Often, it begins with intentional steps that shape culture and leadership.
Some actions companies can consider include:

  • Promoting inclusive leadership: Create opportunities for diverse voices and talents to grow into leadership roles.
  • Encouraging open dialogue: Build platforms where employees and partners can discuss sustainability challenges and solutions.
  • Connecting sustainability with action: Translate ESG values into concrete initiatives, whether through environmental activities, community engagement, or responsible business practices.
  • Leading by example: When leadership demonstrates commitment to ESG values, it sets the tone for the entire organization.
